1. For the people who don’t know about you, Can you tell us a little about yourself and business or websites that you run?

I am Vishal Gaikar, a 28 years old Software Engineer, Designer and self developed blogger from India. I am highly fascinated by the world of computing and spend most of my time querying new technologies and learning about innovative ideas and tools that make life easier other than my work.

I’ve started in blogging with Technology blog tricksmachine.com and currently I also write about Gadgets, Mobile Apps, Blogging & SEO on separate 5 Tech blogs. Well versed in Adobe Photoshop, WordPress, Flash, XHTML, and CSS. I try to learn various skills every day and I am so passionate about my work that I won’t give up until I am fully satisfied with the outcome.

2. When and How did you introduced to WordPress?

I started blogging in Sept 2008 on Blogger platform with couple of blogs on Travel, Technology and Bollywood. In July 2009, I started receiving blog-traffic and was connected to few associates who were in this industry. That was the time I took blogging seriously and in Sept 2009 moved to WordPress and have been there since.

 3. Every website has a story behind it. Tell us story of TricksMachine.com. What was the motivation behind starting the website?

Ah, this is the good question. It all started in April 2008. I had been reading a couple of blogs of my friends and wondered how these blogs were created. As I saw this as a new skill (one can say motivation) and a good platform to learn and share our knowledge with the world ; I decided to start my own blog. A very Special thanks to one of my colleague Mr. Mukul Kumar who helped me a lot to know blogging completely.

I started couple of blogs on Blogger which were related to Travel and Orkut ( largest social-networking site then) . I got a good response and a lot of traffic to my blogs. I wanted to take this to higher level and this is when I bought my first domain named “Tricks Machine”. At present , Tricks Machine is one of the India’s top blog with 6200+ happy feed subscribers, 3200+ Facebook fans. Recently I achieved one more milestone on Tricks Machine as I got 37k Alexa rank for my blog.

4. Has Google panda impacted and how did you overcome?

Yes, Google panda ate most of my site’s visitors because of the checks which were not present before. But then I evaluated all the site contents, put proper checks and did my best to improve the overall quality. At present , blog traffics and visitors are back to normal.

5. What networking do you do that you feel helps your online business?

My Mantra is : Get Active, Stay Active and Keep your business healthy. I am active on social and professional networking sites, which helps me learn , connect with advertisers , clients, maintain relations , and in-turn helps in the growth of my online business. Social media gives a deep impact – on individuals, and of course, on organizations.

6. What’s next for you, are you working on any projects or products we should be looking forward to?

Recently I launched a blog about car reviews and I am looking forward to make it huge. especially in India.

7. If there was one thing that you wish you knew before you started the site, what would that be?

Ohh, It’s the Better domain name related to current site and which is available and has great CPC

8. Where do you see WordPress Five years from now.

I really would not be able to tell you that. But things change, and I am expecting that people will think that WordPress is the easiest than blogger and most bloggers will find WordPress as the first choice for blogging.

9. Tell us few apps/services that you are using these days. (for example: Mailchimp, GetClicky, Buysellads, Magazine3, etc,.)

Yeah, I am using WordPress themes from Magazine3 , tech and travel blogs like beingandroid.com and thetravelmantra.com. Also I am active on some online forums including DigitalPoint and Magazine3.

I am an android user and uses Lot’s of android apps related to blogging like WordPress, Analytics and other apps like FlipBoard etc.
