How to setup WordPress SEO with TechNews to get the best SEO optimization

This tutorial will help you understand what steps we took on the theme demo to get the best SEO results. So let’s start this tutorial then.

1. INSTALL ‘WORDPRESS SEO’ PLUGIN

First, we need to install the WordPress SEO plugin by Yoast. Go to Dashboard > Plugins > Add New and type ‘WordPress SEO’ and click on ‘Search Plugins’.

2. DISABLE ‘OPENGRAPH SEO INTEGRATION’ FROM ADVANCE SETTINGS

Go to Dashboard > Themes > ‘Customize’

Then navigate to ‘Advance Settings’ section, and disable the ‘OpenGraph SEO Integration’ option and click on ‘Save & Publish’.

3. SET TITLE & DESCRIPTION TO THE SETTINGS

Now add the Title and the Description tagline from Dashboard > Settings > General.

4. CONFIGURING ‘TITLES & METAS’ IN WORDPRESS SEO PLUGIN

4.1 In General Tab, ‘Check’ the Noindex subpages of archives and save.

4.2 Under the ‘Home’ tab add  %%sitedesc%%  in the ‘Meta description template’ field like below image and save options.

4.3 Under the ‘Post Types’ tab, navigate to ‘Posts’ section, add  %%excerpt%%  in the ‘Meta description template’ field like below image and save the options.

5. CONFIGURING ‘SOCIAL’ IN WORDPRESS SEO PLUGIN

In Facebook tab, Enable ‘Add Open Graph meta data’ option and add Facebook Page URL and save settings.

In Twitter tab, Enable ‘Add Twitter card meta data’ option and add Twitter Username and save settings.

In Google+ tab, Enable ‘Add Google+ specific post meta data’ option and add Google Publisher Page url and save settings.

6. SETTING GOOGLE AUTHORSHIP WITH Technews THEME

6.1 Click on ‘Edit My Profile‘ from the top right toolbar.

6.2 Now scroll down to ‘Contact Info’ and add your Google+ profile url and save the option.

6.3 Now add your url from the Google+ profile page from Links section

6.4 Now check it using ‘Google Authorship’ testing tool at http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
