Wish list: The films, stage shows, books and music on my radar

The film I’m off to see… I don`t really see many films at the cinema but when I do its normally to see the latest Pixar animation with my eight-year-old son.

I’d like theater tickets to see… Theatre Complicite`s production of Henrik Ibsen`s An Enemy Of The People at the Barbican.

The one exhibition on my wish list is… Gunter Von Hagen`s Body worlds. It’s a travelling exhibition of preserved human bodies, being a singer and also a disciple of the Alexander technique I’m fascinated by the human body. I’ve wanted to see it for many years and yet always miss it but I will get there one day!

You will find me on the front row of… Penarth Pier! There is nothing like being by the sea. It has beauty, drama, changing light and that wonderful sea breeze. I love it.

I am listening to… Goran Bregovic. I just love the music inspired from the Balkan’s region. I am also listening to Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde – it’s the 1966 recording with Karl Bohm, Windgassen and Nilsson. Simply amazing.

I am reading… Manuscript Found In Accra by Paulo Coelho, a truly beautiful and wise piece of writing, and an old favourite of mine which I often travel with. I’m also reading The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity by Daniel Reid. It’s one of the most inspiring books on personal health I have found, it’s like an operator’s manual for the body .

I’d like to give a cheeky plug to… Welsh National Opera’s Carmen, which is part of WNO’s latest season also featuring William Tell and Moses In Egypt. A favourite among opera audiences around the world, this piece has it all – great music, drama and a deadly ending.

Our WNO production is a classic. We really have a fantastic cast and its going to be an exciting event . And if you have never been before, it’s a perfect introduction to the operatic experience.
