Even with her talk show coming to an end, Oprah Winfrey has several big things planned–including a performance in an upcoming motion picture.

Winfrey is not shy to the big screen. One of her most prized and a remembered performances was as Sofia, Harpo’s wife, in the 1985 adapted film, The Color Purple.

Winfrey went on to act in other big named adapted literary works, such as the 1998 film adaption of  Toni Morrison’s Beloved and do a voice-over in the 2009 animation, The Princess and the Frog.

Now, the 56 year-old Queen of Talk is ready to make her move back onto the acting stage.  According to Deadline.com, Winfrey is in talks with HBO Films to star in Ruined, an adaption of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize winning screenplay.

Ruined starred Saidah Arrika Ekulona and Phylicia Rashad’s daughter, Condola Rashad, and won several awards during its 2009 off-Broadway appearances at the Manhattan Theater Club. The play is about a brothel placed in the war-torn Congo and the struggles of Mama Nadi,  who works to keep herself and the women working for her from getting caught up in the violence of the  government and rebel armies.

Oprah Winfrey and Kate Forte will serve as executive producers through Harpo Productions
