You may not be physically present for the Emmys this Monday, but at the very least you’ll be able to tour its nominated shows’ sets online. It’s not nothing!
On Thursday, Google Maps released a collection of Street View tours to real-life sets from nominated TV shows, including Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, and more.
The tours include some of television’s most famous stomping grounds. Take, for instance, Los Pollos Hermanos, the infamous fried chicken chain that Walter White’s adversary used to peddle meth in Albuquerque. That’s actually a Twisters, a similar-sized fast food chain in the same town, with a total of 19 units in the area. The design on its signs is eerily similar to those on the Los Pollos Hermanos chains featured in the show — a detail that demonstrates just how obsessive the show’s producers were about making the sets authentic.
Over in Morocco, you can survey the sprawling desert land of Aït-Ben-Haddou. This is the set of Yunkai, one of the cities Daenerys Targaryen conquered on her wildly successful Mother of Dragons tour during Season 3 of Game of Thrones. It appears only slightly less menacing than what we saw in the show, though the lack of Daario Naharis is disappointing.
